Cakes! Usually the star attraction of the party. The following vendors I have worked with on several occasions.
JACKIES CAKE BOUTIQUE*Staten Island NY. Jackie got me started on my cake obsession. Back in 2003 I was planning my wedding and would spend hours upon hours scanning bridal magazines, wedding websites, bridal showcases and whatnot. I wanted to get my then fiancee a special grooms cake to be served at our rehearsal dinner. I made an appointment to met with a baker in Suffolk county to see what she could do for us. Upon arriving at this persons house I immediately jumped back in my car and drove back to Staten Island hours away. How I came across Jackie, I cannot remember, but from our initial phone call I was well at ease. I met Jackie at her home, a very warm and friendly person. I told her how much of a Minnesota Vikings fan my husband was and I wanted a Vikings jersey cake. After tasting the many flavor variations, we set the flavors. The cake was beautiful! As beautiful as it was, it tasted just as good. The fiancé didn't want to cut into it. The cake was enough for 60 people, but she measures generously and we had lots leftover. The cakes cost us $300 without delivery. Three years later I was back in her office planning my sons 1st birthday. Disney friends was the theme. I wanted a cake in the shape of the number one and mickey and friends all over. My sons party was held at Russo's on the bay, from the moment we walked in people were raving over the cake. In the center of the cake was a 14inch tall sugar sculpture of Mickey with arms raised holding a flag, fondant toys and ribbons all over, a thing of beauty. The Mickey sculpture is sitting in a trophy case in my sons room as perfect as the day of his party 5 years ago. With delivery we paid $700 for the cake. My last experience with Jackie was in 2007. I planned a surprise 30th birthday for my husband, casino themed. We talked over designs and decided on a king of hearts cake. Vanilla cake with cookies n cream filling. With delivery the cost was $750. Jackie has a storefront on Bay St. She is well worth the trip. Her website is http://www.jackiescakeboutique.com/
Babas Sweets*Staten Island NY I came across Tina quite accidently. I pickec up a business card while in a store to jot down a number. I was planning my second childs birthday and wanted a special cake. I found Tinas card and decided to give her a call. She is a very nice person and very talented. Her prices are very reasonable. She uses a program called Cake pro to sketch out a design for you so, you can control cost by adding or omitting certain things. For Joey she designed a 3 tier topsy turvey cake that was to die for!!! Her cakes are very moist and the portions are big so you will have left overs. This cake ranged at about $550 with delievery. I used Tina again when I baptised my 3rd son this past June, she made a beautiful cross cake with a blue fondant sash, priced around $400. She is now doing Jasons 1st birthday cake in a jungle theme. I have the sketch, but sorry its a surprise until 4/13 price is $690.
